I believe in using evidence-based medicine as a guide in the use of medication management for treating a variety of psychiatric symptoms and disorders. I aim to work closely with patients and their families in difficult times to develop a comprehensive individualized treatment plan. I focus on my patient's goals and strive to support them through their treatment and recovery.
My background includes being double board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in
Child/Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry. Over my career, I have worked in inpatient behavioral health hospitals, outpatient clinics, and crisis response centers. I also served as an associate faculty member at Drexel University College of Medicine and taught medical students, psychiatry residents, and child/adolescent psychiatry fellows.
My areas of interest and clinical expertise include mood disorders, trauma, anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and autism spectrum disorder. I also have extensive experience in working with a broad range of other mental health issues.
I specialize in working with middle school and high school-age adolescents, but also enjoy working with elementary school children and young/middle-age adults. I am most passionate about helping my clients deal with transitional phases in their lives.
Over the past decade, I have worked at an inpatient behavioral health hospital in Fort Washington, PA, where I serve as the Associate Medical Director.
Dr. Chakkaravarthi is passionate about advocating for the needs of his clients and their families.
